Well, we had a lovely day today, swimming at the Vera Laguna, was almost like a training session ready for our expedition in summer next year, as the instructor told us we had to swim 10widths front crawl, 10widths back crawl, and 10 widths breast stroke, but we slacked off a bit and did some diving and breath hold stuff instead, which was much more fun! Spending so much time with the kids is fantastic, and I love the chance to get to know them better before the project ‘proper’ starts.
Tomorrow we are off to Gergeti in Kazbegi to clean up the river as part of a European Union project to promote volunteering in Georgia. Its being run by Europe House, and will be great for us to meet some new people and to practice speaking English with other Europeans too. Sadly, there were only two spaces on the coach, so unless the other guys can get a parent to drive them the four to five hours there, its going to be tricky for them to get there. But I am thrilled by their enthusiasm, and we will no doubt have a lot of fun, and it should be much cooler up in the mountains too.
Also, we received a lovely email from Tooni Mahto today. Tooni is a marine biologist and cave diver, and was one of the presenters on the BBC Oceans series, so it is fantastic to have her on board and supporting us. Really encouraging!! Thanks so much Tooni.
